My presentation as the 2022 Nebraska Teacher of the Year will focus on my past as at-risk youth who hated school to now being named the Teacher of the Year. My presentation will show the power of great teachers that empowered me and impacted my life to help lift me out of poverty and put me on a positive path toward success. This story of rock bottom to redemption is my Robert Downey Jr. Story (Iron Man) of education. My story will serve as an inspiration for school leaders to help show the power of great teachers and the impact they can have on at-risk students as I once was. I cannot wait to share my story and journey with school leaders.
