Nebraska schools and communities are growing in farm-to-school interest and activity. Policy, programs, and partnerships put in place support meaningful and sustainable integration of farm-to-school into our classrooms, cafeterias, and communities. This session will cover the increased capacity provided by the passage of the 2021 Nebraska Farm to School Act (LB 396); programming available to schools to advance farm to school, and opportunities and training available for producers to build relationships with Nebraska educational institutions. Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Public School Superintendent, Dr. George Griffith, Overton Public Schools School Nutrition Director Brenda Buchholz, and Family and Consumer Science Educator, Angie Ehlers, will provide an on-the-ground picture of the progress their farm-to-school teams have made and the influence statewide and district level support has on ensuring success.
