Farm to School and Early Care Education cultivates Social and Emotional Learning and Health with experiential education and hands-on gardening activities. Gardening and nature-based activities can contribute to rural prosperity, urban self-sufficiency, and tribal food sovereignty. Learn about farm to school impacts from the stories of Beyond School Bells urban vertical growing space, the Freight Farm Greenery in Lincoln; and the Umo nhon Nation Public Schools Ashita Thewathe, a nature-based garden education curriculum that infuses all academic areas with Indigenous wisdom and culturally-relevant hands-on learning. We’ll learn about the resources needed to jump start these programs, and the health, educational, and economic impacts they are providing to the students and community.
