Every school commits an enormous amount of time and effort to engage in the continuous improvement process. A successful school leader is able to engage staff in a way that is meaningful and collaborative around the purpose of CIP and the role they play in impacting that purpose. Time is the most valuable resource and it is often difficult to commit time if barriers restrict opportunities to make necessary changes. School leaders must have the courage to identify and address the barriers through genuine engagement with all staff. Identifying barriers is the easy part; the hard part comes when systems are willing to go beyond the surface level and dig deeper into the data to define root cause. This will not happen without the expertise, the input, and the genuine engagement of all staff and stakeholders.
