As the Assistant Director of the Nebraska Department of Education, Office of Special Education, Kris’s primary role is to provide assistance to the Director in supporting programs that fall under the state’s responsibilities for general supervision under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Also assisting in the oversight of the Nebraska Administrative Code specific to Special Education and Federal Regulation compliance. Primary roles include leading the Part B Team, State Performance Plan and Annual Performance Report, Significant Disproportionality, Facilitator for the Special Education Advisory Council, and providing technical assistance to district with policies and procedures. Kris has been with the Department of Education since July 2020. Before joining the Special Education Team, Kris was a Special Education Director for an Educational Service Unit for 18 years and a School District for 2 years.
